Happy spring everyone! Spring has definitely sprung here in Charleston and I don’t know what I am more excited about, this new peplum top or that I finally am utilizing the azaleas in my neighborhood for a photo shoot . I was honored to once again get the chance to test out the new Sweet Summertime Peplum from Lindsey of Sew to Grow (you may remember the Flatter Me Frock from back in February). This pattern is great because you can make it into a peplum or a dress. I love a good two for one deal! This pattern has a fitted waist and sweet little cap sleeves. At first I was wondering how I was going to pull off making a fitted top in voile without a zipper, but because of the large neckline, it ended up working out perfectly in the end. I cut out a size medium, but I did end up having to take in about 1/2 an inch on the side seams to bring it in some. Otherwise I made no major changes to the pattern. 
The fabric I choose for this top is the Bare Nopal Gloom, a voile from Leah Duncan’s latest collection for Art Gallery Fabrics. I went with a voile because it has such a nice drape to it which works out great for the peplum part. And it so soft and light weight that it works great for the summer time. And yes we are already getting up to 80 degree temperatures here in Charleston so yes I am going ahead and calling it summer here.
PS: I just discovered that this time last year I was showing all of you my first ever peplum and I was standing in front of the same azaleas and wearing the same blue skinnies! ! And here we are again. Some things never change I suppose.
