If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I am a picnic girlie and my family thrives eating chips and sandwiches on a blanket at the park. But every so often I get a chance to play hostess and I so enjoy pulling out the fancy china and (to the tune of Taylor Swift) “setting the table with the fancy sh$t!”
I think the key to setting a beautiful table is to pick two coordinating colors and then MORE is more! Layering plates on plates on chargers, big over-the-top flower arrangements, and a few holiday themed table decorations scattered within. I found this beautiful blue foral tablecloth from Amanda Lindroth’s Warehouse sale and then with the green leaves of the flowers I decided to stick with a blue and green color palate. I think people expect a lot of yellow for Easter and spring but I have always loved blue. And also blue and green just compliment each other so well.
I also try to stick with some high and low pieces. This table cloth was a slight splurge (although I got it on huge sale) and the plates are all vintage heirlooms, however the flocked bunnies are from Walmart and the little treat cups for fruit are made out of paper.
I am also a big fan of using simple mason jars with velvet ribbon tied around in place of a vase. It adds such charm and character and keeps me from having to find storage for a variety of different size vases throughout the year. I try to save money where I can by mixing items from my yard and garden in addition to what I pick up from the grocery store. Charleston has a horrible selection of flowers besides what you can get from Trader Joes and Whole Foods but you would be impressed with what you can find growing on the side of the road or at a neighborhood park (as long as it’s the flowers that are growing wild and not the landscaped flower beds!)
I also like adding texture to my table with these grass ring holders and woven chargers. The napkins are also a really nice textured fabric to just add an extra element to a normal dinner napkin. The last thing I did was throw in one extra anemone from the garden on top of the napkin as an extra touch!

The plates are all vintage and the chargers are all old from Home Goods so I do not have a link for those. But I discovered these plates when shopping for the tablecloth and I am in love with the scallop edge. That’s all for now! Have a happy happy Easter to all that celebrate and I hope spring weather is on its way to all of you no matter where you live! xx
