As I stare at my dining room table filled with books bags, waters bottles, coloring boxes, and lunch pails, I can’t help but smile because I know it won’t be like this for long. Some day, in the not-so-distant future, they will throw their book bags over their shoulder, place their water bottles in the car’s cup holder, and drive off to college. Tiny trinkets and toys and shoes scattered all over the floor will one day be replaced with the sounds of silence.
I think about these things as we enter year 7 of being parents. A year where all the THINGS that use to clutter my brain (diapers, wipes, pacifiers) now include all the PLACES I need to be (tennis lessons, piano practice, play dates). We are constantly on the go and headed somewhere. And this summer we are embarking on a new stage of parenthood: sending our oldest two kids to summer camp.
We haven’t yet taken the plunge and signed up for a sleepaway camp. My heart can only handle so much! So we are starting slow with day camps. Charleston, while hot, muggy, and home to our team mascot the mosquito, is still such a beautiful place to be in the summer and there are endless camp opportunities for kids of all ages. This summer we are signed up for week long tennis camps, karate camps, a nature camp, and a surfing camp.
One thing I am doing to help organize myself and the boys for all the different camps is to label all the things. So I was so very happy when I recently discovered Name Bubbles.
Name Bubbles has become my new go-to solution for labeling with their customizable Name Bubbles Camp Labels Pack. I ordered a set for Liam in the Forest Sky Blue print and was able to choose the color and the font type. The Camp Label Pack includes 80 sticker clothing labels, 34 iron-on clothing labels, 42 rectangle name labels, 2 square contact info labels, 8 shoe labels, and 1 large backpack label. More than enough labels to keep your items from going home with someone else!
The labels are waterproof, dishwasher safe, laundry safe, sunblock proof, bug spray proof, and microwave safe, printed with non-toxic ink on premium vinyl material, and come with directions for an easy application.
Some of the things I have already begun to label and pack away for camp using our Name Bubbles Labels include:
- book bags
- water bottles
- extra set of clothes
- inside sole of sneakers
- flip flops
- bathing suit
- beach towel
- sunscreen bottle
- bug spray bottle
- sunglasses case
- inside of a hat
- lunch box
- beach bag
- flashlight
- tennis racket
- karate belt
- bottle of hand sanitizer
- pencil/craft box
- plastic baggies with extra granola bars and snacks
- writing journal
- inside cover of books
- the possibilities are endless!
A big thank you to Name Bubbles for keeping me sane and organized this camp season. In the mean time I will be here labeling anything and everything and getting ready for this busy season of my life. I know it won’t be like this forever: Me running the carpool ring, waking up early to pack their things, hustling from one camp drop off to another. And watching the two of them laughing and joking with friends in the backseat of the car, adventuring in the outdoors, and learning new skills. But it’s so worth it when you pick them up and they give you that late afternoon, sweaty, exhausted “oh hi mom, its you” smile. The things I will do for that smile!
Happy labeling everyone!
