When I say quick, I can’t stress to you how quick this skirt was to make. From cutting your fabric to putting it on, the entire process took less than an hour. And that is saying something for me, because I am not a fast sewer. This skirt was made using the Kwik Sew Pattern 3513 that I purchased from Five Eighth Seams in Charleston. What’s great about this pattern is that its a Kwik Serge pattern, meaning that you can make the entire dress (with the exception of the bottom hem) using only a serger. No pinning. No sewing then going back and finishing off the seams with a zig zag stitch or a serger. Just go straight to the serger! I had to add a few extra inches to the lengthening line (about 4) since I am so tall and I wanted it to be a full maxi all the way down to the ground. But otherwise I followed the pattern directions. I used the new Arizona knit fabric from Art Gallery Fabrics in “Desert Blanket” to make this skirt and used the left over Arizona “Tomahawk” knit that I used for my Jorna dress to make the waist band. That’s really it for this skirt! I love this pattern, I think its super easy for a beginner and great for anyone who wants a flowy knit maxi skirt. And the Arizona fabric line designed by April Rhodes is just amazing. I have a few more projects in the work from this collection of fabric so stay tuned!
