For my first big dress adventure, I completed the Washi dress. I couldnt of done it without the guidance of my sewing teacher Daniela. She is from Uruguay and is the cutest happiest sewing teacher one could ask for. I struggled a little bit a lot with attaching the bias tape to the armholes. The directions are clear but for whatever reason I kept folding it the wrong way and having to re-do it. But Daniela came to my rescue and helped me along the way. I loved the elastic shirring in the back of the dress. It allowed me to be off a few inches on my fitting. I have learned that with dresses that fit tight, you have to be very precise with our seam allowances or your size 4 dress is suddenly a size 2. BUT with the shirring you can get away with the type of rushed imprecision that I am known for. Overall I love love this dress. I wore it last Saturday to my sister in law Emily’s bridal shower and had rave reviews. I have to say so myself if was the second best dress in the room (Emily looked just stunning in her white dress. I will find out who made it). I am looking forward to making another Washi dress for next spring.
