I bought The Subtle Art of Not Give a F*k by Mark Manson for my husband Will last Christmas as my silly way of telling him to not worry so much. I will leave you with this excerpt from the book: “You and everyone you know are going to be dead soon. And in the short amount of time between here and there you have a limited amount of f*cks to give. Very few in fact. And if you go around giving a f*ck about everything and everyone without conscious thought or choice, well then you are going to get f*cked.”
I have not read Obama’s latest book, A Promised Land, yet but I have heard he not only writes about his time in the White House but how decisions get made and the process behind them. Whether you lean right or left, I imagine this book would both entertaining and educational.
Everyone has that one friend who can’t stop talking about the Ennegram. I have them. In fact, I used to be one of them. The Sacred Enneagram by Christopher L Heuertz is the best book to really dig deeper in the the concept of enneagrams.
Will and I have only recently started binge watching “The Crown” but now I totally get the obsession. HRH by Elizabeth Holmes is not only a beautiful coffee table book but filled with fashion, lifestyle, and all things royal family.
Construction Site on Christmas Night by Sherri Duskey Rinker is our go-to Christmas bedtime story for the truck lovers in our home. You can not go wrong with this for the young boy or girl in your life!
Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens is the only novel I have read as of late but once I started I could not put it down. This would make a great book to throw in your carry on bag and bring down to the beach or mountain house for those rare quiet moments to sneak in some reading.
Beaches by Gray Malin is the perfect combination of photography and travel in a stunning book perfect for any new home owner. All the photos are shot from above in a helicopter and the colors are just gorgeous. Perhaps one day you can get your friend one of his prints, but for now this book would be great resting on the coffee table.
Waiting on the Universe is actually MY first published book! I feel deeply that this book would be a great gift to give to your friend or loved one who is dealing with the emotional impact of infertility, miscarriage, grief, or loss. You may feel like you are at a loss of words when it comes to talking to your friend and my hope has always been that somewhere in the pages of this book are the words that will show him or her that they are not alone.
Any of the parenting books by Dr. Sears is a winner in my eyes but The Baby Sleep Book is my favorite. Unlike many sleep training books that make you follow a “one method fits all” approach, he instead explains how you can create a sleep plan that suits the needs of your entire family.
At some point during quarantine I stumbled across an Instagram Live of Chrissy Tiegen and John Legend making fried chicken together and suddenly I knew I wanted her cook book. The recipes in Cravings: Hungry For More are easy to follow and full of food that you will actually want to eat. And cook books also make great hostess gifts!
