Happy weekend from yet another beautiful garden here in Charleston. I will never stop being in awe of this beautiful city. In fact this photo was taken on our walk from the car to see a play for Spoleto festival and on the way we passed at least three gardens. But thats not why you are here. Today I want to share with you a new pattern that I recently tested for Lindsey of Sew to Grow: The Bondi Top.
This top is a super easy sew for anyone who is looking to get into the world of sewing. There are only three pieces: a front, back, and contrast back yoke. So no messing around with ease stitching a sleeve onto the shirt, no zippers or buttons or plackets, and none of the other things that I hear beginningers curse shout about. The shirt has a nice curved hem and a flattering boat neckline that I really love. And over all I would say it took me less than 2 hours from start to finish. At that rate, one can just focus on stocking up their skinny jean collection and making a new one of these bad boys every weekend. That’s a heck of a plan right there, if I do say so myself. 
The fabric is one that I have had in my stash from the Makers Collection from AGF Studios. I have been debating what to make with it. Its a nice soft, flowy voile so it was perfect for this top. I also used a mid weight ribbed Marc Jacobs cotton for the contrast black. What I was debating on for this fabric was if the sewing pins design was a little too “kitschy.” Like, hey look at me, I sew. Sound the dork alarm. But then again, I wear boat shoes when I go on the boat and cowboy boots to music festivals. I am the face of irony I suppose. Plus it is so subtle that even my husband with his fighter pilot vision, didn’t realize it was sewing pins until I told him. 
This photo is horrible but it does show my new ombre colored hair do. I’m so current.Or so I think. 
The hem in the back is also a little lower than the front. Perfect for long torso gals like myself who suffer from constant back-riff always showing.
