When I find a type of fabric that I really like, I tend to go a little overboard. Exhibit “a” is the Arizona collection by April Rhodes which I now have 5 different pieces in my closet using fabric from that collection. Well this fall I started to find a lot of inspiration on Pinterest for tops, dresses, and accessories with buffalo check print and I immediately had to get my hands on this fabric. Luckily for me, I had a gift card for Girl Charlee and they did not dissapoint. I purchased some black and red which I used here and also a few yards of pink and navy that I used for this new top. I also came across some black and white buffalo check from Wanderlust fabrics that I was planning to use to recreate this tunic, however I have different plans in mind for that, so stay tuned!
The pattern I used for this top is the Shoreline Boatneck by Blank Slate Patterns. I have made the top before (I have not blogged about it yet…opps) and I really liked this pattern for making simple knit tops. The boat neck is very flattering for me but the one thing I do not like are the sleeves, they are a bit baggy and not as form fitting so I ended up taking them off and grading about 2 inches from the seam! I also cut the “dress” version instead of the top but removed a few inches from the bottom to make it more tunic like vs a knee length dress. I think this will go great with both leggings and jean.
And while you are here, stick around to see some sneak peeks of our family Christmas card photo! All pre-photoshopping the pets’ red eyes! hehe! Enjoy!
