October is quickly approaching and this year is extra special because on the same weekend as Halloween, Taylor Swift is going to be releasing her album 1989 (Taylor’s Version). A few friends and I decided to take this opportunity to get dressed up in our favorite 1989 inspired outfits and celebrate all things Taylor.
The details for this party were so fun to work on. Personalized place settings with stickers and beads at each seat for everyone to make bracelets, a 1989 “Finish the Lyrics” table game to fill out including some easy and some not-so easy lyrics for the real hardcore Swifties, the full deluxe version playing on the stereo in the backdrop, tons of snacks and heavy appetizers, and three different 1989 themed drinks.
All the drinks on the menu are inspired by songs lyrics from Taylor Swift’s 1989 album starting with a “Bad Blood” mocktail, a “Flash Your Green Eyes” champagne drink, and the “Sky Turned Black Like a Perfect Storm” cocktail.
Bad Blood Mocktail
- 2 cups gingerale
- juice from one blood orange
- 1/4 cup of Hawaiian Shaved Ice Orange Flavoring
- 2 tbsp vanilla
- a blood orange slice to garnish
- optional: orange Cotton Candy Express sugars for the rim
Sky Turned Black Like A Perfect Storm Cocktail
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- 2 oz of Vodka
- 8 oz of water
- 2oz of Hawaiian Shaved Ice Blackberry Flavoring
- 4 blackberries for garnish
Flash Your Green Eyes Champagne
- 3 ounces of champagne or Prosecco
- splash of Hawaiian Shaved Ice Lemon Lime Flavoring
- lime rind to garnish
There are so many other drink options I didn’t include like a “Clear Blue Water” cocktail or a “Wine Stained Dress I Can’t Wear Anymore.” And I am now convinced all drinks should be named after song lyrics from here on out! You can find all the Hawaiian Shaved ice mixers for the drinks at Hawaiian Shaved Ice. Use code PRISCILLA10 for 10% off a one-time purchases only until the end of the year. (Excludes the Hatsuyuki Cube Ice Shaver, the Sno-King Snow Cone Machine, and the Little Snowie!)
The real fun will come at midnight when Taylor finally releases her new version of 1989 and we can dive deep into the 5 new unreleased vault tracks. There is so much anticipation on what the song will sound like and who (if any) will be featured guests on the albums. Any last minute predictions? Cheers and happy release day to all who celebrate!
