I am probably not the first person, nor will I be the last person, to tell you about the ever so popular Hill House Nap Dress. Over the past three years I have created a capsule wardrobe of spring and summer dresses that are versatile, comfortable, and truly timeless pieces that I want to wear again and again and the Nap Dress is one of the headliners in my line up!
The Hill House Spring 2023 launch is today so here are just a few of the pieces that caught my eye.
The first dress I want to talk about is the original Ellie Nap dress which, in my opinion, is worth all the hype. The smocked bodice makes it perfect for nursing, pregnancy, weight loss/weight gain, and it always recovers back to its original shape afterwards. I own three of these but my favorite is the white Swiss dot. At $125 it’s affordable and machine washable but still very well made. I am eyeing the blue floral cotton print for this year as well as thinking about getting Olive her first Tiny Ellie dress to match mama!
Not actually a part of the new drop but still on sale on their sight is the lace collectors edition dress. Same fit as the original Ellie Nap dress but made out of a stretch cotton. I never knew I needed an all white lace dress until I had one. Perfect for baby showers, spring brunches, birthday parties, or even for sight seeing and walking around town as pictured below on our trip this summer in the French Riviera. It’s a bit pricer then the other dresses at $275 and you WILL need a nude color slip, but if you want a really well made all white dress to add to your capsule collection this is the one!
The Daphne dress was my favorite from last summer and this drop will include a purple gingham version. I am picturing photo shoots in a lavender field or Easter Sunday brunch in the garden wearing this dress. The Daphne has a more dramatic flutter sleeve than the Ellie dress and the bodice is fitted instead of smocked, so this is a great option if you want something a bit more of a tailored feel. The purple gingham Daphne is $150 but they still have a few of my blue roses Daphne, seen below, for 50% off making it only $75!
My motto has always been to buy just a few well made classic dresses and then you won’t feel that urge to fall victim to fast fashion. And you don’t need to fill your closet with a plethora of poorly made, trendy pieces that you wear only a few times and throw away. Find something you will truly love and want to wear forever.
