One of my favorite projects each year that is sure to win me some cool-mom points is making homemade Valentine’s Day cards.
This project is simple, inexpensive, and easy for the kids to get involved. Each year I have the boy’s tell me what they are most interested in and I purchase a little toy, token, or sercy that goes with that theme. Then I play around on Canva, print my final image on thick cardstock, heat up the old hot glue gun and that’s it. So easy! But if you want to save even more time, no worries! I have included my templates at the end of this post.
Liam who will be 7 in February has recently discovered Minecraft and is completely hooked. I am still not totally sure what Minecraft is all about but my husband has gotten into to it with him and I love that they have this new fun thing to bond over.
Bear who will be 4 on Valentine’s Day loves Hot Wheel Cars. He calls them “cartwheels” in an attempt to combine the two words “car” + “hot wheels” and I don’t have the heart to correct him.
Supplies: card stock, glue dots or a hot glue gun, a printer, scissors, and tiny 1-2 inch toy of your choice. This year we used Minecraft figurines and Hot Wheels cars. Other fun ideas include:
these adorable Bears: “I love you beary much!”
a pack of little Dinosaurs: “You are Dino-mite!”
these little bees: “We Bee-long together!”
Otters: “I love you like no otter!”
Dogs: “You are Pawsitively amazing in every single way!”
Bunny: “No bunny can compare to you!”
Legos: “You are one friend I will never Lego!”
Mini Poppers: “Valentine, you make my heart pop.”
Fire trucks: “You set my heart on fire!”
these crayons with pink wrapper: “Have a colorful Valentine’s Day!”
Rocket Ships: “Valentine, you are a blast!”
Below are the JPEG images from both this year and last year. You can right click, save the image, and print at home for your own use! Enjoy!
Tips For Printing: Use white 8.5×11 card stock. Set your printer paper size to US Letter or 8.5×11 and elect “Scale to Fit” and “Fill entire page.” You will have four cards printed per page. Just use a paper cutter or scissors to cut. And voila! If you do not have a color printer, just upload to FedEx Kinko and they can print for you.
For the Hot Wheel fanatic in your family:
For the older Minecraft crew:
Dinosaurs are loved by both boys and girls so this a great hit:
I love this one for a younger 2 year old class. So precious:
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! xoxo
