We are now three weeks into life with twins and although I still have a lot to learn, I have already discovered so much about this new twin world. It’s definitely double the work and double the exhaustion, but it’s also pretty magical.
The most common question I have gotten so far from friends and other expectant twin mothers, is “what should I register for?”
Of course you’ll need double the diapers and most likely I really good wireless breast pump. But I have found a few other twin-specific items that I couldn’t live without so I thought I would share them here.
The first twin item I acquired was the HALO BassiNest Twin Sleeper. It sits at the perfect height next to my bed and allows me to reach over to grab one baby for middle of the night nursing and then swivel the bassinet for the other baby without having to get up. It’s a little pricey but would be a great item to add to your registry. Another similar model is the twin bassinet from Delta Children and at a better price point. Either way, you’ll be glad in those early days to have the babies next to you in your bedroom.
My most favorite item so far is the Twin Z Breastfeeding Pillow. It’s the only way I have been able to tandem nurse when both babies are ready to feed at the same time. It’s user friendly and upon investigating it’s the only breastfeeding twin pillow with a lumbar back support for mom. It can also be used as a double pillow lounger for the babies. The Brest Friend Twin Pillow is another similar options that I haven’t tried myself, but I have heard good things.
We were gifted the WeeGo Twin Baby Carrier and it actually is pretty handy for short walks with these two tiny babies. I think that once the babies get bigger this will probably not be as comfortable as some of the other structured carriers (like an Ergo), so this is probably going to be one of those short lived baby items. But if you can find one on consignment or if you receive it as a gift it’s definitely worth having around.
The Uppa Baby Vista Double Stroller is something we shopped around for awhile. We can click both car seats in for now, lay both babies in the bassinet that clicks in, and when they are older we can use the two toddler seats. There is also an attachable standing board for Bear. We have the Uppa Baby car seats that go along with it but if you already have different car seats, you can click those into this stroller system with a separate adaptor.
If you are having twins, you need to have matching outfits. Okay, so this is more of a “want” versus a “need” registry item, but I have loved shopping for coordinating brother/sister outfits. I love these on Etsy and also this one for boy and one for girl. I also just ordered these Sophie La Girafe footies that are super cute!
One last item that I haven’t used yet that gets good reviews is the Table For Two Twin feeding system. Just as the twin breast-feeding pillow is great for tandem nursing, this would be great for those formula/ bottle feeders who need to be fed at the same time.
I hope this was helpful. I will keep my eyes out for any other twin items and update as needed. xx
