My favorite time of year is when you go for an evening walk or bike ride and you can smell the jasmine in the air, sometimes even before you can see it.
I am talking about the star jasmine (also known as trachelospermum if you really want to get nerdy). This is not to be confused with yellow Carolina jasmine which is actually our state flower. So there was your South Carolina State History and botany lessons for the day. Homeschooling… nailed it.
In times like these when traveling is not an option, I am trying to find ways to make the most of where we live. Finding beauty in the flowers, walking a little slower and admiring the architecture, and exploring small back alleys that remind me of the South of France.
It has given us a chance to really get to know the jasmine around town so I thought I would share some of my favorites today:
I wish all of you were here to smell this. No worries, they’ll be back next year and perhaps I’ll meet you there. xx
